There are many things a child can dream of, while growing in a somewhat isolated farm in the heart of Tuscany. Just like kids in the movies, I have dreamt of becoming a Police Man, a Firefighter, an Astronaut… but honestly never imagined I would become a chef. And never, ever, in million years I have given Donuts a thought: I am partial to Italian and French baking styles, and even later in life, once I moved to Los Angeles, I never understood the compulsion of downing a full donut coated with a sticky sugar glaze.
For the sake of full disclosure, yes I actually have eaten Crispy Creams… but it was 4 a.m., Debi and I had just survived a wonderful and exhausting Hollywood party. It was an emergency! I believe we had 2 or 3 donuts each, it made for a wonderful late night date we still remember and cherish. But I have not had a donut since, it has been years.
Then a few days ago Lavazza asked me if I was interested in celebrating with them National Donut Day! I could not say no, as I enjoy the challenge of developing recipes that are at times out of the ordinary for a #SuperTuscan like me. I am very surprised of the results, as these coffee donut bites turned out to be delicious and highly addictive… definitely something to enjoy responsibly!
Come celebrate with us at our new shop in Brooklyn on June 5th, Debi and I will be there all morning to make your pit-stop memorable!
Brought to you by Lavazza, Italy’s Favorite Coffee.
