Yes it is true, escaping the city during summertime is a survival necessity, especially if you live in a crazy and restless city like New York. I remember growing up in Florence and dividing my time between the shore on the coast of Tuscany and our Estate in Fiesole where I rode my bycicle for endless days in the hot and dusty fields.
In those days, once the sun started dipping down West, my family and I would enjoy the best evenings outdoor; the breeze coming from the valley down below would cool off our porch, and my mom would set the most rustic and simple dinner table… friends and family would often crash and spend the evening with us. There is something absolutely special about the quiet of the fields in August, something that always helped me put life in prespective… I always felt at peace.
So let’s try to re-create that atmosphere in our little Brooklyn shop, with a menu that will transport you straight to our Tuscan farm.
As it happens (I thought extreme bureaucracy was an Italian thing) we are still waiting for our liquor license, so this event too will be a BYOB. I suggest a crisp a fruity white wine for the appetizer and first pasta course and a full bodied red for the second half of the menu.
A gluten free pasta option will be offered, this is not a vegetarian dinner and no substitutions are possible.
As always, given the nature of our events and the small size of our room, tickets are transferrable but not refundable. Please double check your calendar before pulling the trigger!
Our shop is not a restaurant but rather a communal dining room. We do not fire our orders based on your arrival time, we do not use heating lamps and we get sad when our food gets cold because a guest is late. Pretend you are coming to dinner at grandma… mine used to smack me if I was late for Sunday supper. We won’t get physical, we will just start without you around 7.15
